Kim Kardashian Can Be Offensive, But Isn’t She Just Being Honest?

Kim. Kimmy K. KK. Kimbo. Kimberly.

I'm torn about this woman.

On one hand, I respect the sheer tenacity and determination she so clearly displays.

There's the reality TV fame, the law degree, numerous brand deals and ventures that prove Kim's as ambitious as they come – you only need to take a glance at the billion dollar empire that is SKIMS to know that it’s a serious, money-making machine.

And she came, she saw, she contoured with KKW Beauty too.

So, yes, the verdict is in.

She's undoubtedly savvy when it comes to business.

But she says some stupid sh*t.

REALLY. STUPID. SH*T.

Comments and statements that make you recoil and wonder what the actual fu*k she is thinking saying this sort of stuff out loud.

She's got some of the brightest minds in the PR game on her team, and yet, with all that media training over the years, still manages to say things to prove just how out of touch she is from reality.

Like the now infamous interview with Variety where she was asked to provide advice for women in business, and she responded with this classic...

'I have the best advice for woman, and that is to get off your fucking ass and work'.

Uh, come again?

It screams of privilege.

You can't even say it was a 'slip of the tongue'.

You know what would have been sensational?

Some actual, practical advice.

And then, just when we thought it was safe to go into the water, along comes the 2022 MET Gala...

While walking the red carpet, Kim was interviewed by Vogue and was asked about the process of fitting into Marilyn Monroe's dress.

She replied with this:

“I looked at them, and I said, give me three weeks. I had to lose 16 pounds down today to be able to fit this. It was such a challenge. It was like a role. I was determined to fit it. I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict".

Like, far out man.

Her PR team must have been reaching for the vodka bottle, surely.

Kim, I want to like you girl.

I really do.

But, when millions of young people are looking up to you, hanging on your every word, that comment is just irresponsible and dangerous and NOT a refection of where we are as a society.

But... and here is where I'm about to get controversial.

In both of those occasions, at least Kim was being.... honest.

I'm REACHHHHING, I know.

Hear me out.

In both of those situations, Kim was honest.

(Which is perhaps what we'd like to see from her when it comes to the unrealistic beauty standards, yeah?)

We always say we want to celebrities to be honest, genuine and authentic.

But perhaps what we really want is for celebrities to use their platforms to only preach good, non-offensive and safe information – even it means they are not being 100% honest.

Anyway – THAT'S why I'm confused and have mixed feelings.

Because while I most definitely do NOT agree with what Kim has said in both of those occasions, I do appreciate the honesty.

Do you?

Stay fierce.
